Design of Column with basement shear wall in RCDC

When the basement shear wall is modelled along with intermediate columns as shown in image, and such columns supposed to designed in RCDC , then RCDC devides the length of columns into small length/small segments as per meshing of adjacent shear wall, thus column design get erroneous as RCDC consider segmented length of column, this is incorrect process and it needs to resolve and incorporated earlier.....

After merging the primary or secondary levels, as you described in earlier post, will RCDC read the column length as per floor levels ? Or need to provide 1mm or any gap in between columns and basement wall ???

    Hi,

Thank you for sharing the query. We will try to enhance the column reading logic as suggested by you.

I would suggest you merge the levels to design the column. You can select the primary levels in RCDC and merge the secondary levels. refer attached snap-01.

After merging the secondary levels, RCDC will consider the floor-to-floor height (primary level to primary level) as a column height for design.

if the columns are not present at end of wall, RCDC auto merge the wall nodes created for mesh. refer to snap 02 and 03.

RCDC should design such columns for length between the distance floor to floor height or as per the user's requirements.....
