Add option to pick which Axis releases are applied to for angles in STAAD

It is unclear which axis is a release is applied to (whether the geometric or the local) for angles. Giving an option would clarify that plus make it easier to do one over the other.

The idea is sound and will be added to the backlog. A suggestion that you can adopt in the meantime is to add a very short element to the end of the angle say 1 inch or 25mm and provide the release on the ends of those which can be rigidly connected to the angle and aligned with a suitable beta angle to the necessary geometric axis of the angle.

Which is difficult to deal with because nearly every time angles are rotated to so their legs align with the axes of a connecting member. So if you are trying to design a gusset plate that is welded to a column and bolted through the leg of an angle, then there is not a proper way to release the moments/forces that the connection would not be designed to resist. So either the stiffness matrix calculated by STAAD or the loads that STAAD is calculating will be inaccurate.

Thanks for your posting. However in STAAD.Pro the releases are always defined about the principal axes as the stiffness matrix that is solved is based on the principal axes.
