When you open a Section from the Properties panel by double-click, you are prompted to the same Table, including section type as the one you double-clicked. That is OK. But the table is just opened regardless of what section size or configuration is the one you want to edit.
If you open a Double Angle L12012022 SP 0.0254 Material STEEL_50_KSI, once you double click you are prompted to the top of the list at single angle and material STEEL, and you have to set up every value once again.
Also, you cannot change section type. If double angle doesnt work you could try HSS, but now you have to add a new Property Reference which is loaded at the bottom of properties list. To reorder you have to open editor.
The idea is that when you open a Section Property, you are prompted to the same section and configuration including material as the one you opened, and then you can select another member size and, if required, even to be able to change Table or Section Type.
Thank you for posting your idea. This was indeed identified as a limitation in the way that profiles were being handled in the Properties dialog. However, with STAAD.Pro 2023, we have introduced a new Standard database system that addresses both these issues the full database is displayed and the actual profile defined is selected. Note however, this capability is not provided for the older legacy dataase system.
