Regarding the rules, at present STAAD can check the single angle (truss) therefore regarding the Angle Star we can use the same AISC rule. I think that the problem is only that STAAD cannot load correctly the static parameters (Inertia, Radius of gyration, etc) in the correct way. May be only a minor BUG in the program when you select the SA Star Arrangement (radio button) in the Section Profile Table - Section database
