I wouldn't lie by saying that I'm a vivid user of the calculator from the withing the Input Editor/Command file. But at times when the Window's calculator crashes, Staad's calculator comes to the rescue.
hoping to add a few suggestions:
1. rather than using the mouse, entering the values via the numeric pad is much faster; but in such case I'm unable to enter a decimal value as the 'point' button doesn't seem to be mapped with the 'point/period' button with my keyboard. (it does seem to work when I used the number pad section on an external/USB keyboard)
2. and including bracket/parenthesis function would help with computing sequential/continuous values.
3. also the moment we press the enter key / equals to button, the history (or) the keyed in values disappear. Can we have a history or a log to track the earlier entries.... or even the values can stay even after the enter/= is pressed, and they can disappear once the user has made a new entry...
that being said.... also kindly advise, if this calculator (or) the unit converter is accessed from the installed folder without opening/executing the STAAD application, would my usage be logged against the license or these applications are like free to use... 🤔
Thank you for posting your idea. Whilst I can see some value to both your ideas, the truth is the general adoption of the STAAD calculator is not a tool that garners as much use as other tools provided. As you say the Windows calculator is a functionally more extensive offering and I would rather suggest that a 'User Tools' functionality be added to the Editor similar to that provided to the main GUI so that other apps can be triggered, including the Windows Calculator or some other useful tool.
