Proper implementation of Shear Walls

Hi

The current methodology for Shear Walls, involves modelling the walls in Staad.Pro and then importing them into RCDC. When a user does this, he will identify the number of bugs that are there and that Staad. Pro and RCDC dont talk to each other correctly.

Lets consider a scenario where there are 200 columns in a model with a floor at 4m and 8m. If one column has a node at say 2m elevation, then according to RCDC all the remaining 199 columns should have a node at 2m elevation. The user should now waste his time and create an unwanted node in all columns at 2m elevation. If this is not done RCDC cannot perform the task of "Merge and Demerge Levels" and will popup an error. CS0566156 is proof of this.

Historically STAAD has been very poor at handling RCC walls and all it needs is a small team to sit diligently and resolve this problem and you can give ETABS strong competition. This and elevated slabs have been 2 distinct areas which need improvement.

I request that a team is put together to look into this in detail and arrive at a holistic solution.

Kind Regards
