I would like to ask if you are considering expanding the possibility of checking composite decks (steel-concrete) in Staad Pro in the near future to include the European standard and European rolled profiles. So far, it is only for American cross-sections and the American standard, which is very limiting for me and mostly not even usable. I cannot judge whether there is such a big difference between the American and European standards in the check of composite decks. Thank you.
Thank you for posting this idea. Yes, the current implementation of the composite deck solution is designed for projects designed in the US. This would I suspect come in two parts, 1) the generic analysis solution to automate the determination of section properties of beams that use wide flange profiles from the European databases and deck profiles from European providers (who did you have in mind?).Then 2) the next logical step would be to extend the solution further to then take these profiles into a routine that could then check these members to the requirements of Eurocode 4. However, the Eurocodes are in transition now and the second generation are being published which will become a replacement for the current publications and whilst it would make sense to offer a solution to the second gen code, as very few projects have adopted this as of yest, there is little demand for that code at this time.
I short, the idea that could be added to the backlog here would be for the composite deck module be expanded to support non-US wide flange profiles and a method for adding additional deck profiles. If you can provide details/samples of the decking profiles that would need to be supported.
